A 1984 SIU Automotive graduate, Mr. Cunningham began his GM career as a GM Co-op student with Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan. He has held numerous positions in brand management, advertising, sales, service, and marketing as well as parts. In 2004, as marketing Director, Mr. Cunningham developed marketing strategies and plans for GM Accessories. In 2009 he was named Regional Director for Buick in GM’s South Central Region office. In this assignment he was responsible for sales and aftersales growth and revenue for two of the industry’s fastest growing brands and had responsibility for 14 states. In 2013 he assumed the position of Regional Director, Chevrolet in the largest region in the U.S. market based in Chicago. In 2015, he was promoted to the position of North American, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing. In this current assignment, he has responsibility for sales and revenue of more than $7 billion and supervises GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales, Sales and Marketing activities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
